Pilgrimage to Ancient Temples International Edition, 5-volume set INTRO DUCTION : This is a five-volume set of the international edition of the Pilgrimage to Ancient Temples series, the lifework of Ken Domon (1909-1990), one of Japan's most famous photographers. Photography for this series began in 1960, with the first collection published in 1963, and was completed with the fifth collection in 1975. And this international edition was published in 1988. He visited 39 temples, and the book contains about 450 large-format color photographs and 320 black-and-white photographs of the architecture, Buddhist statues, and landscapes of Japanese ancient temples that fascinated him. He also did most of the editing and binding. this series is a gorgeous book with the top edge gilt, using the best printing technology of the time. The title of the cover was written by famous artists and writers such as Ryuzaburo Umehara, Heihachiro Fukuda, Yukihiko Yasuda, Yasunari Kawabata, and Masuji Ibuse, respectively.
