Description

A rare, folkloric take on the classic Bosatsu ( Japanese Boddhisatva) figure, this charming naif piece is hand sculpted and beautifully stippled with a variegated glaze in calming moss-green, fading to warm ivory. Hand-inscribed with peace and prosperity prayers, the diminutive ( 4 1/2 x 2") piece stands in the prayer pose. It is said he is praying for the enlightenment of lost souls. A moving addition to any religious, Asian or folkloric collection, the original ceramic work is in EUC with no cracks, chips, rubs, fading or staining.
