Description

This richly detailed original antique Japanese figurine of a Buddhist scholar was found in Japan (is circa 1900), and is skillfully carved by hand with simply exquisite details! He has acquired a wonderful natural patina over the past century, and the carving is simply extraordinary ~ even the fibers on the bottom of his sandals are painstakingly rendered! This one of a kind sculpture is a true work of art. He measures approx 5" tall and is carved with impeccable attention to detail, right down to his smile with individual teeth, the extremely fine design lines in the headdresses, and graciously worked strands of hair. In lovely antique condition, I truly hope he'll find a home that will display him in a place of honor, and continue to be treasured for many years to come!
